Job description
As an Associate on our project finance & M&A deal team, you will be right in the middle of all the action. You will be working on impactful transactions and will be accountable for the smooth execution of advisory missions relating to financial structuring, raising required debt or leading M&A equity finance transactions. This is the ideal job for you to apply your analytical skills and curiosity for out-of-the-box solutions.

You will be joining a growing Hamburg-based team of around 15 (“giraffes”) and work in close collaboration with fellow giraffes in Africa, Americas, Asia, and Europe on our projects.
The scope of this role will include:
Developing and managing financial models, valuations, and cash flow analyses for renewable energy and energy transition projects
Supporting debt raising, project finance, and M&A transactions from origination through execution
Preparing high-quality client and investor materials, including information memoranda, financial analyses, investment presentations, and process documentation
Coordinating and reviewing due diligence workstreams alongside technical, legal, tax, insurance, and market advisors
Working closely with Project Managers to develop optimal transaction structures and deliver successful outcomes for clients
Contributing to market research and sector analysis across renewable energy and broader energy transition markets
Supporting business development initiatives and helping identify new opportunities
Mentoring analysts and interns, where relevant
Contributing to a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and international team environment
Job requirements
The candidate should have a Masters or similar degree in Finance, Engineering, Economics or a related field. The ideal candidate should at least have 3 to 5 years of experience in project finance, M&A, infrastructure finance, investment banking or financial advisory. Previous exposure to renewable energy, infrastructure, or energy transition sectors is highly desirable.
In addition, the candidate should demonstrate:
Fluency in English and ideally in German
Strong financial modelling and valuation capabilities
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
High level of organisation, attention to detail, and accountability
Proactive mindset with the ability to take ownership and drive work independently
Willingness to travel internationally when required
Additional languages such as French, Spanish, Dutch, Chinese, or Japanese are considered a plus
